Hotmail account hacked - most strange!!

Morning all

It's not my hotmail account that's been hacked - I don't have one.

I've just had the scam email doing the rounds, the one that comes from your *friend* saying that all his/her money has been stolen while on holiday, please send some money......that one. lol.

But the funny thing is.........it was sent to my gmail account, the one that I ONLY use for FB.........and I have absolutely no idea at all who this person called Sandra Easton is!!!

Why on Earth would she have my email addy in her contacts in her hotmail account???

Beware anyone with a hotmail email account, especially if you use that email addy on FB, as it seems that this is the one that is most at risk of being hacked.

Of course I just deleted the email - I'm not that daft as to reply to it! LOL.

~~~~~~~~Good morning to the lovely BC xxx
I'm kind BC.........but not that kind! LOL
But what's perplexed me is that I've no idea who this Sandra is or why my email addy is in her contacts list? LOL Not that I'm going to lose any sleep over it though LOL
If your facebook friends are people from on here you maybe know her by a different name. Actually the name rings a bell but I can't think why.
Technology is wonderful but it can also be a pain!!!!
Well Ann, it's funny you should say that the name rings a bell......it did to me too at first, I checked all my other email addys to see if she was a contact in one of those but she's not........and I am absolutely certain I don't know anyone of that name.
And I don't use FB, so I don't have any friends on there at all - not even the friends in real life, I'm just not interested in FB.
PigletsPal........that's pretty much what I figured - but all my real life friends who are on FB have got my proper email address not the one I got purely to register with FB and has never been used for anything else.
Eh! it's a mystery! LOL
Every single email you sent has the potential for being intercepted by spammers and hackers who then have details of your email address to use for their future activities.
Ah......I've just found the person in question as a member of Ancestry.
She has put a query on the message board and *horror of horrors* included her email address in the message. Still doesn't explain my being in her contacts list, I've never ever had any contact with her!?? ;-))
IGP - that's why I hate loath and detest these stupid chain emails, and the people passing them on with everyone else's email address for all to see.
I was also hacked 2 weeks ago, apparently through my Yahoo account. I've lost all my email contact list, every Yahoo group to which I belonged, plus my Facebook account has been deleted -FB has no record of my ever being there!!.
Unfortunately 2 of my friends saw fit to follow up and actually wired money - several hundred dollars - mercifully we were able to get Western Union to reverse the wires in time.
I feel violated, felt sick for days. Now today I've heard that a friend near here fell for a scam which required her to send money, why she didn't investigate first is beyond me. Shehas been defrauded of a few thousand dollars.
Be wery,wery careful dear people.
