MY GARDEN PARASOL

Yesterday, the 20 October 2010, I put my garden parasol into dry dock for the winter. Boo, hoo. Now it will not see the light of day until next Easter. This is now a sure sign, for me, that winter is on it's way. I even heard on the local radio yesterday, that in the higher parts of the county, they have had the grit lorries out already. Brr.brr.

Hi Julia:-) I don't ever take my parasol down as I can't bear to look out the window and see the naked table! But it is in a sheltered spot on my patio so nothing much happens to it in the winter, just the occasional pigeon splat! I, too, find it sad to see summer finish. Have just tucked up my bougainvilea with fleece (our dear Daff sent some to me) in the hopes it will survive. BC XX

Oh Dear Julia.....I hope you didn't put it in the garage for the winter, mine was a feast for the field mice last year and ate most of it, was not until we put it out this summer and shock horror, wouldn't have kept the rain out let alone the sun ...

My new one is kept indoors now, behind an unused bed settee .

Hi Ladies,
BC, I hate the parasol going away also, because of the naked table. But, we are rather prone to high winds here, and right across my garden, so it is better to take it down, for safety's sake. I too, have things to 'fleece up' yet. Good old Daffers, she can always be rellied on.
Marilyn, it has had to go in the summerhouse and take pot luck with the mice. It is not so much the parasol itself, but the time it has now had to go away, to prepare for winter.
Julie and Stray, I have been putting things away since the beginning of the month, such as tree danglements and wind chimes. Also some of the more 'precious' plants are now juggling for a position in the conservatory. I may have to have a rather large fern and a Red Abbysinian Banana in the bedroom. I cannot bear to look out of the kitchen window and watch my plants destroyed by the elements.
Take Care All
