They got it wrong yesterday concerning all theses cuts, i think they should have scrapped Trident & pull the ladder up & STOP sending all these billions of pounds in overseas aid.

McB, I haven't read it fully but I think upping the overseas aid is out of order, but it's a political move ..they need the goodwill from those countries.
(especially if they cut defence in their own)

...Right alongside you there McB. Not one single penny should be going abroad in aid. Why on earth we are giving money to India, a fellow G20 member?
Neither should we be giving billions of pounds to the US for more pointless nuclear weapons.

I think we should say sod em all & look after ourselves for a few years, does any other country send us overseas aid ?, when we had the floods did we recieve any help from abroad ?, something happens somewhere in the world & we are always the first to send millions, it's time to STOP & look after ourselves.

Unbelievable that they can up the overseas aid at a time of cuts to services in the UK.

The Cabinet should have a taste of living on a low income, watching appliances, etc break down, and having to decide whether to eat, keep warm, or replace a cooker or washing machine.

We have gone through tough times bringing our families up, without all the benefits in place at present, and now they are cutting us back even more. How on earth do they think we could have saved for retirement on a small income?

If someone was affected by floods here, i don't underestimate the pain and loss and cost....but they were not going to have to watch their child, who managed to survive the flood. die of typhoid.

It's all relative isn't it.

i agree with scrapping Trident, we won't ever use it, it's totally pointless. I also think we should consider an increase in VAT on imports only.

If the poorest in India got a benifit off their government they would feel like kings,,

mid this year,,we sent 60 million, then a few month later another 70 million,====£130 million, split between thousands and thousands isnt a lot really is it.?. there will never been enough to combat the poverty there.but surely that little child needs to be saved ,the old and frail need to be shown care, they are a proud race and must feel dejected and defeted that they have to accept charity....

Hi Rose, would that include all the food we import as well.?

Rambling Report 22 Oct 2010 18:24

hmm Foggy, I hadn't thought about food specifically, I was thinking more of an attempt to boost manufacturing here to create jobs ...

but give me a minute lol.... I think by and large I would say yes, particularly the items we can produce here but which are sold at low prices ( meaning workers have to be paid low wages) in order to compete with imports, do we really need strawberries in November? .

But...lol, me being me I can also argue myself out of that stance...thinking of the £3 jumper I can buy at a well known cheap store, which could not be produced for anything like that price here...it is made by people who are on pence an hour...but, is keeping them alive...hard one isn't it?!

LOL Rose...

The problem is we are not manufacturing goods, as lots of factories have shut down, you only have to look at our steel plants, we cant even provide the steel for our planed new high speed railway.

Food wise, lots of our farming is being taken over with producing oil crops to make Bio fuels to keep the tree huggers happy.
A vicious circle me thinks.
