I have posted a few queries recently and had some lovely support, which, as a total newbie to all this, has been very helpful. I posted a new question the other day and got a message saying that I should be thanking people for helping me on a previous query (which I genuinely thought had pretty much run its course and so I hadn't at that point gone back and looked at it). When I did there was a comment saying that it seemed I didn't want the help (although I had already thanked previous posters who had assisted me. The a comment aigain suggesting that I express my gratitude, accompanied by an @i know you're on here because you just posted a new query'. I GENUINELY meant to offend nobody. I am new and only manage to get on here now & then due to work etc. It left me feeling really quite upset. I felt that I had thanked people as I had gone along. It all felt so petty. Is there some kind of rulebook that I have missed? |

You will see that there are some very bossy people on here, people that consider themselves some sort of moderators, telling people to do this, don't do that etc. |

What can happen is that if you send thanks direct to the helper it doesn't show up on the thread! No rulebook - but there are some people who don't even acknowledge assistance, take the info and then delete without comment - which naturally does cause some indignation - and you may have received comments from people trying to eradicate that sort of behaviour. If your conscience is clear don't take any notice - but you might avoid this sort of thing the future if you put any thanks on the query thread itself. |

Hi Elizabeth. I had thanked people on the thread earlier on. I was unaware that another message had been added some time later - and hadn't thought to check. Will remember to keep checking back in future, and to 'bookmark' the thread! |

Haha Nina - I already saw the scary 'don't post it twice' warning! Glad my bum was only mildly slapped and glad that there are kindly folks on here to restore my faith! |

Don't worry Rosalyn, it was probably just one of us 'oldies' suffering from board fatigue lol a condition which occurs after a few years of doing look ups, sometimes with not even acknowledgement let alone thanks :). |
