I could do with knowing if there are any sites for Ireland preferably free at the moment.

Or can anybody find

James Wallis Sullivan

he was born about 1914/15 Ireland ..sources say 23rd may 1915 place unknown
married Marian/marion Cook born 1938 in 1957 Maidstone, Kent
Died 2002 Boston, Lincs.

What I do know is that he would never speak about life before 1940 when we presume he moved from Ireland to UK or at least sometime during the war.

Did he have another family in Ireland or was it more sinister?

Does anybody have any ideas ?

Might just have been natural reticence Uzzi if he hadn't had a particularly happy youth?

Or maybe a family connection to one side or other, I believe some of 'mine' kept secret their allegiances during the creation of The Irish Free state because it was best to do so.

Kay????

The only thing is GRO Ireland where you can get BDM certificates from.

Hi Rose from what I hear from his granddaughter I would say it's more than reticence as not even his wife knew anything about his life in Ireland. Chances are there is a family connection that is best kept secret.
Granddaughter and daughter would like to know what part of Ireland he came from but sadly he stayed quiet about his life before 1940.

If you can get his birth cert Uzzi, you might be able to find his parents on the 1911 which is free.

Thanks Kay I started thinking a birth was pointless but with a middle name of Willis it's not so.

Rose I have suggested 1st they get the marriage cert of James and Marion and hope he told the truth about his Dad

Thanks folks for the help
