last xmas i wanted a pink watch. now my hubby is not very good or very patient when it comes to shopping especially at xmas as i do it all.

but i went to town with my children 2 weeks before xmas and in this shop i saw a lovely pink watch. my son said, mum thats just what you want isnt it? yes i said but how do i get your father to buy it for me without telling him exactly what i wanted.

we looked on the shelf and there was only one left, so i said to the shopkeeper that i wanted to make sure when my husband comes in this shop( and i knew he would\) that he wiithout realising would choose this watch all by himelf.

he placed the watch behind the counter, but in a very visible place. i then described my husband(having ginger hair makes it easier to identify him) to the shopkeeper and explained that hubby would be asking if they had any pink watches, and that he would suggest the one that i had already chosen.

well he went shopping later, came home and dissappeared to bedroom with a bag of presents. about a hour later put wrapped pressies under the tree and said nothing.

on christmas day, i opened this present and saw the pink watch that "i "had chosen. my son and i burst into fits of laughter and my hubby said, whats wrong dont you like the watch. its pink as you asked and i went to a lot of trouble to find that. i said its just what i wanted and was still laughing with son 10 mins later.

my hubby couldnt understand what was so funny, so my son said i think you better tell dad the joke.

well after i told him he laughed and laughed and couldnt believe the length i had gone to to get what i wanted.

but it worked and i was happy to get what i wanted as in previous years hubbys presents have been a bit boring and predictable.
anybody else got a tale to tell?

...but what have you bought him since? A bit of Mars?

For my eldest daughter's 30th in July, my younger daughter bought her an Olive tree.
I gave eldest some money to buy a pot to put it in.
Last week she texted me to inform me that she'd bought a bamboo plant and some door knobs (?) with her birthday money!!!
