Is it worth going platinum, or will gold be good enough

GR doesn't hold any records - they link to other sites.

Most people would advise either Findmypast or Ancestry, both of whom usually have a 14 day free trial, as long as you let them know before hand if you don't want to continue. You'd need to cancel your credit card details.

Scottish records are mainly found on Scotlandspeople although Ancestry have some census transcriptions, but not the images.

Hi Welshy
I am a platinum member and I find it good for searching and easyer for getting infomation on people in your tree. I have found cousins I never new I had but maybe if i had not had a platinum membership i may not have found them at all. It's ok but is a little costly for what it is. Thats all I can say about it, so it's up to you. Good luck

Thanks to you both, I've upgraded to gold now so I'll give that a go

From what others have said, its better elsewhere. Eg if you find a rellie on the bottom of one census page, then you have to ask GR to give you the next one. You can't turn the page thus the risking missing the rest of the family.

Having said that, one person I know says that GR is the best place for her budget. So it's horses for courses.

The advantage of this site over others, is the helpful members who will look things up for you on other subscription sites.
