Hello DetEcTive,
What a treasure you are. I have now got the free 14 day trial and a 25% discount.
When I phoned them last week to bargain all they would give me was 10%. I tried for 15% but they would not have it. They suggested I should keep checking their website for further offers.
I am now in my element!!
Thanks once again.
PS We are members of The National Trust but do not look at their web page so thanks once again.

I'm not sure if Ancestry still do, but at one point it was possible to purchase credits to access records your sub didn't cover. I think it gave you access for a certain period of time, and in my case was a useful, if temporary feature.

Now that, possibly like you, I've discovered a whole tribe in the US, I took the WW sub.

If you put up a thread on TTF, someone may be able to find him - you could then decide if you want to take out the WW sub yourself.

The National Trust website page has a link to Ancestry offering 25% off - the link is at the bottom right of the page, and 'cycles' with a different advert.

Hello InspectorGreenPen
Thank you for your reply.
I was only thinking of the American side as I have according to a census a sibling of my grandfather born in the US in 1859. I have tried several times to confirm this but as yet cannot so thought mabe if I had World Wide I could look through any US documents Ancestry may have.
I will rethink now. Thank you for your help.

Horses for courses - no straight answer. Look carefully what you are getting for your subscription, and whether or not it meets your needs.

For example do you really need Ancestry worldwide? For most in the UK the essentials ancestry sub is all we need, or possible the premium if you hace ancestors in the London Metropolitan Area.

This site does subscription comparisons across a no of suppliers

Hello everyone. I have been a subscriber to Ancestry for five years but let my subscription elapse in July as I was going to be out of the country often.
I am now back and wish to subscribe to either Ancestry or The Genealogist.
Ancestry have quoted me £155.40 for World wide with a 10% discount giving a total of £139.86. The Genealogist have just brought out a Diamond range for £98.95.
Can anyone tell me which they would prefer and why. I look forward to hearing from you.
