Think the concensus was,,most found it uneasonable at such a young age,but found on the whole if it saved alot of heartbreak for the young adults and families involved ok but not behind closed doors to parents.others thought that the young males need updating on contraception and others thought that,both females and males need sound advise on STD and others risks when taking the plunge......there in a nut shell,,}

I have all the pages of the whole thread still open in tabs. ;)

I must have missed the dénouement ... was off finding IIB's relations ...

Any other choice tidbits about moi that I didn't get to see??

I don't think the consensus was at all that "most found it unreasonable at such a young age".

I think there were very many voices of reason that spoke up clearly and very soundly in favour of the policy.

Consensus means general agreement. I really don't think that's an accurate portrayal of opinion in that thread.

Even if there was a majority opposed to the policy, which I'm not sure there was ... well, it's always a comfort to remember that sometimes those in authority are clear-headed and compassionate enough to do what is in the interests of people who are vulnerable or in need of assistance, rather than following the opinion of people who think problems are solved by telling people what to do and punishing them if they don't do it.

And yup, denying adolescents access to contraception puts them at risk of unwanted pregnancy, which is certainly harsh punishment for a teenager who steps out of line.

I find it interesting that so many hereabouts and everywhere decry the state of today's parenting, so many irresponsible parents ... and then say that providing adolescents with contraception (or denying them access to it) should be left up to parents ...

Y'know, I guess I thought it kind of obvious, but it was never actually pointed out.

This pilot project is a way to get these kids *in the door*. One month's supply -- want more, you have to see a doctor. While you're here, we're going to offer you info about protecting against infection, birth control in general, and stuff like that. It just strikes me that anything that gets kids in that door is a good thing.
