Sean Report 4 Nov 2010 20:09

On a 1911 Irish Census return, my gg grandad's occupation was recorded as an 'engineer in ship yard' and he was living in Belfast. Were there any other ship yards in Belfast at that time apart from Harland & Woolf?

If he was working there, do any archive centres hold employees records to check?

Hi Sean,
Harland & Wolf papers are held at PRONI .. Public Record Office of Northern Ireland.

Lists of the papers they hold can be found on their website, but dont appear to be viewable online;

http://www.proni.gov.uk/

Also, unfortunately the office is closed whilst being relocated til April 2011.

There is some info of Harland & Wolffe papers on the National Archives website & the various offices that they are held;
