Have unpacked a few more boxes today and bought a pine bookcase ( second hand shop, so chuffed with that lol) ...I think we've pretty much decided to stay, the sun was shining through the trees behind the house and it did make a difference lol, so we went for a bit of an explore and a chat about the pros and cons.

I think if you like the way you did up the house, and can cope with the location and it fits into things for D. you should give it a go, as long as the finances add up.

In another few years when D. is stepping out into the big wide world maybe, you can rethink and either sell and move on or move on, and rent that house out, there will probably be a lot of people looking for rented properties the way things are going for the future.

Thanks Amanda, Libby and everyone :) I will sleep on it tonight, but you're quite right about that Libby, a couple of years of being settled for D might be the best thing and then I can decide what to do 'for me' after that.

You say that D likes it and wants to put down roots. He could be off to uni in 2/3 years, maybe then would be the right time to rethink your options. Our children are only here on loan so it could be the right opportunity for you both by then to move onto pastures new, ideal time to be a little selfish and to think about yourself. In the nicest possible way of course. :))

A Lotto win would of course solve everything!.

LOL Rose .....you and I think along the same lines in that respect . When I moved into here ( almost 24 years ago ) I got it as a council exchange . The house itself wasn't aesthetically to my liking but the location was far better than being isolated out in the " sticks " . It was as soon as I moved in here that I was able to indulge in being a Gardener in fact it was a very conscious decisision to " put down roots " ....lot's of them ......lol

Rose .....it can't be that bad a location or you wouldn't have bought it in the first place would you ?
And you have said the words " garden ....half decent ....and could make " in one sentence ......I think you've already made your decision ....lol

It's really tricky. Without going into all the financial whys and wherefores, it makes sense financially to stay here and now we've made the move D wants somewhere to settle and call his own lol. It is just down to location, location, location lol.

But...having done it up myself, I like the interior and I could make a decent garden out there...

I think a lottery win tomorrow would be really useful lol ;)

you was only moving into it reluctantly so it isn't where you want to be anyway.
plus it's a buyers market you can find what you want ,but you may not find another buyer for what you have.

If the worst comes to the worst you cann always go on that location programme and let them find you a place !

I guess you have to ask yourself " do I really want to live here ? " and if the answer is " no " , how long would it take you to find a place you did want to buy ?
You must be getting well and truly sick of being "transient " and want to put down some roots again .

It is a classic case of " so*s law " ....lol I hope you can come to a firm decision without to much angst .

Decide, rather reluctantly but you bite the bullet anyway, to move into house that you have up for sale, which has been up for sale months...

Monday the phone rings just as the removal men are arriving..estate agent has someone wanting to view Tues', explain situation, but say the viewer can come (thinking not a chance they will want it).

Wednesday they make an offer...Friday they up it to the asking price...possibly the only buyer the agent has had for months lol.

To unpack...or not to unpack...that is the question!
