How not to make Christmas Fayre

Well, this has been my worst year ever. Here goes....

I'm so used to the Delia recipe that I didn't bother to read the bit at the beginning. Half way through the recipe, I started to wonder whether my mixing bowl would really be able to accommodate all that fruit - of course it wouldn't - the recipe is for two puddings.

Not to worry, I took myself off to Asda and bought a second pudding bowl. We'll be eating pudding from now until the end of time, but hey ho....

At the same time, I put my fruit on to soak with loads of brandy, waited the requisite 24 hours, tied greaseproof paper to the tin, poured in the ingredients, waited four hours and then wondered - why does this cake not look even vaguely cake-like?

could it be that I hadn't added any sugar, eggs or flour? In fact, all I'd done was to heat up a pile of dried fruit for four hours.

senility or what?

Hahaha - well I feel better now knowing that these 'age-related glitches' are shared by others on here. xx

Yumm, cooked alcoholic fruit to snack on!!
Seriously, you could have that as a 'bar snack' - with a difference.

Hi Maggie

I binned the whole lot in disgust!

Anyway, the replacement article has just emerged from the oven and smells yummy.

Off to bed now
