I expect they are now safely on English soil, and probably glad of the Royal announcement which will take some of the publicity off them maybe.

Hope now they can rest and begin to gather up the threads of their lives and in time put the awful situation behind them altho they will never ever forget that lost year and a bit.

I heard something mentioned about the whole awful thing being made into a film, if so it could make them some money as they must have lost out - think their boat is being held as evidence or something. It might in the future be helpful to them to work with writers to get the story told, in book or film form, before someone else jumps on the bandwagon and twists the story.

There seem to have been many mistakes made which didn't help an early rescue and it's very sad that Mr Chandler Snr died too soon to see them safely home. Maybe he had a bit of divine intervention after he passed away, who knows, and will have been supporting them spiritually through those last awful days before their release finally came. It must have been dreadful to keep getting told they would be released and then it not happening.

Hope they can recover well once they are home and manage to get enjoyment from life in the future.

Great news, i did hear it on the news yesterday.
Heard that Mr. Chandlers father had died in July though. (R.I.P)
Reporter does not know yet if Mr. Chandler had been Buried yet either.
Hope that they can soon get back to normal.
Lily.

Wow ! Great news and such a relief for their family. I hope they are able to get on with their lives but suspect it will take a long time to even begin to feel safe. They must have thought the day would never come. Good luck to them.

Can't believe no one has mentioned this wonderful news - have I missed the thread?

I was overjoyed to see that finally the Chandlers, who were kidnapped and held by pirates for more than a year, will be reunited with their family soon.
It must have been a terrifying ordeal and I have tried to keep tracks of what is happening to them but with little news until yesterday. Seems a group of Somali people living in Britain collected money towards the ransom and I think the Somali government gave some too, after the amount their family raised was handed over in the summer and then the pirates went back on their word to free them.

Poor people, they look so thin but I hope they can gradually put this behind them a bit and manage to go on to a fulfilling retirement with their friends and loved ones.
