There was a brummie birdwatcher on the bus recently. He was going to the nature reserve. On the way, a little egret landed in the ditch beside the bus. This is about the most exotic we can offer apart from the honey buzzards. He was singularly unimpressed by this.
So was it really necessary for some of us,at home, all of whom are touching sixty, to giggle like eight year olds while doing disappointed brummie birdwatcher impressions for some days afterwards?

A little Egret is exotic? Maybe 25-30 years ago.
Nowdays its all about Purple Herons (saw one on Lundy back in the nineties).
