On Sunday i was given the battle dress of my granddads, Lieutenant in the home guard, today i'v just found a photo on line with him wearing it, just gets better & better.

running bear - that is lovely. Wish I had something like that......all you need now is any medals to go with it (unless they are attached to the dress?). Don't quote me, but I think that quite a few service men didn't "claim" their medals and they can be applied for by family. Maybe you can enquire about your grandfather's?

Nice of your family to let you have the uniform. They must value your hard work into the family research, it would be a shame for it to go to a family member who didn't care about it and for what it represented!

Dee, i have his medals, the 3 from WW1 and the Defence Medal WW2 for his service in the Home Guard.

to think his battle dress must be 70 years old,WOW

HIS DAD IN ARMY WHEN HE WAS TWO
THEY MADE HIM A COPY OF HIS DADS UNIFORM
MY SON WHEN FOUR 1976 HAD HIS PHOTO WEARING IT
WE STILL HAVE THE UNIFORM
