There was at that time a newspaper called the Despatch which I think amalgamated with the Birmingham Evening Mail in the 60s. Also the Birmingham Post is, as far as I know, still running. |

Hi Roger and Ice Baby, thanks for your help. Will try to get in contact with those newspapers. Although it was a long tme ago I would like to try and work out why my grandmother would want to end it all. She had survived the war and my mum had returned home safe from abroad in 1946 so I'm puzzled why she she couldn't carry on. |

Are there any GR members that know the above area and if there was a local paper that covered that area in 1949. |
