Thanks Carol:) I appreciate you letting me know. Wonder why it's showing in my account though. Makes sense just to limit it to 6 months as we already get a "loyalty discount" by getting 12 months for £9.95
Thanks again

Thanks Carol :)

To be honest, if they force us on the 6 month membership I don't think I'll bother renewing.

IF I do decide to renew, it may be just for 6 months I'll have 6 months off. I'm thinking of joining a more specialist site which concentrates on my Scottish ancestry and rejoining a Scottish FHS.

I don't use GR to its full potential and spending £20.00 a year on this site alone just doesn't seem worth it. To be honest it's the value for money rather than the money if that makes sense lol

Don't get me wrong, I like the site and the members but I only stay on continuous renewal because of the value for money, if they go to 12 months I'm more likely to let it lapse for a while or indefinitely.

I remember too Mildred :))))

Kay :) I agree with you about the 12 months being good value. What I was trying to say (but it came out badly) is that I hope it is the same price for us that it's always been and that they won't force us on a 6 months membership.

I PAY £7.50 A YEAR BY DIRECT DEBIT.........HOW WILL IT AFFECT ME

Kay????

Kay???? Report 21 Nov 2010 14:51

Im on yearly,,,,,,£9-95. dont expect to have 20% discount as I think £9-95 for year is excellent as opposed to others having to pay it every 6 months as relative later members.

oh I paid £5 once ,then went up to £7-50,then a hike to near tenner ....still good value though/

Thanks Ice, so they've started to offer discounts for loyalty then? So they have been listening to us.

I just hopes that this is the same for us on the 12 month membership.

Was looking for the Community Board Name box (which I still haven't found) for someone else and I came across this?

"Continuous membership means we will continue your membership for you at a discounted rate of 20% automatically, but we will email you in advance to notify you. If you choose single membership we will let you know when your paid membership expires. If you let your membership expire for more than 4 weeks you will not receive your 20% discount if you later choose to continue your membership. To update your membership type, select from the options above and click save."

so what are the current membership rates? is this new? I think I paid £9.95 early this year for 12 months as I've been continuous since early 2003. I know newer or lapsed members paid this price for 6 months.
