I think it should be a 50 -50 of all faiths,one cant to be excluded but expect that one stands above another....not to be taught any religion but *enlighten* about the many faiths there are,even those as part of a school class if that

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from any lesson on the subject of religion. I think there needs to be a differentation about being taught *about* and being *indoctrinated in* a religion. I'm all for being *taught about*.

If a Muslim (or any other belief) child went to a State religious affiliated school, then the parents could opt to remove their child (or arrange for them to sit at the back) if the rest of the class was being taught the Rites of the affiliated religion eg preperation for first communion.

Most Muslims already know about Christianity, here's the shocker for most......Islam believes that Jesus is a Prophet of Allah, they also acknowledge Moses and Abraham, it is written in the Koran.

As I said Dizzi ALL children should learn about all religions. Including Muslim, Hindu etc etc. Otherwise how can they make decisions for themselves later on if they don't know what other peoples religions are about.

What exactly do you mean when you ask about Muslim children being in the same classroom ?do you think they should be in another room?

In our primary the children are taught about several different religions including Christianity.

The children accept others have differing faiths & are comfortable with that.

The only children who leave the class are JW's who are not allowed to tolerate any other religion other than their own.

What about them Dizzi, they are children, does the fact they are Muslim make a difference?

when i was young i was taught all religions in RE,
so yes, i think its a good idea for us all to learn the basic of other religion as long as it is just taught, and not preaching, x

I think all primary age children should be given knowledge of all religions. that is not to say they should be indoctrinated but should be made aware that there are other religions and taught to respect each others' religions.
