Wonderful poem Harry.
I too can indentify with it
. However, I was quiote happy to be picked last for sports teams, as I was so usless and didn't want to let my friends down.

All in all I have had a good life (with some trials and tribulations).
I am happy with my lot.

I know exactly the feeling Harry, I was the eldest of four, whatever was wrong I got the blame, I should have been watching/taking care of them, I was the girl with plaits taunted and teased, I was the girl who wore the jumble sale clothes that everyone knew whose they were and were to big for me, I remember the tears and being frightened, but the Lord has been good to me and sent me someone that takes good care of me
Have faith and keep your heads high.

Awdrey.

Lovely Harry, truely lovely.
PS. we have not spoken before.

PS., meant to say, I am the middle of three children. Not a very enviable place to be. You never won, either way.

lol that's very good Harry, and this line very apt for a lot of us I suspect

"Picking sides - one left over,
Ah well - another day!"

I was always picked last, even after the 'fat girl' ( I was skinny then and useless at sports lol )

THE TIDE WILL TURN

I was born not quite a loser,
Relegation zone I'd say;
Early worm instead of early bird,
Picked on every day.

My teacher didn't like me,
Thought King Herod had it right;
Milk monitor; filling ink-wells,
Yours truly - never quite.

The school bully shared my sixpence,
Even let me write his 'lines';
Nitty Nora came to goo my hair,
Strange comb with many tines.

Children used to call for me,
Is my ball coming out to play?
Picking sides - one left over,
Ah well - another day!

Eenie meenie was surely fixed,
Paranoid? - well just a jot;
Dandelion 'clock' couldn't tell the time,
The next one 'loved me not'.

Second violin in an orchestra,
Good job there was no third;
Still, every tide must surely turn,
So watch out, early bird.

Friday the 13th I met her,
The omens weren't so good;
Asked her if she'd marry me,
And surprisingly, she would.

Unlucky as a parent,
Two boys - I wanted girls;
Grand-daughters before we knew it,
Never seen such lovely curls!

I'm 78 now, doing fine,
The 'winners' all have passed;
Don't take this as a grumble,
Even God picks me the last.
