thanks - passed it on my my daughter who does use Amazon as I do - and she is a professional librarian so might get targeted there as well!

Hi all,
I know lots of scams are posted on here that turn out to be hoaxes but this one is not!
I use Amazon a lot this time of year, and a couple of days ago I got an email from them in my spam folder so I guessed it was dodgy and ignored it.

Today I received another one this time in my inbox together as it happened, with two genuine dispatch notification mails from Amazon.

The mail quoted what looked like an Amazon order, the sent address was “orders at amazon.co.uk” with a convincing looking number starting 526. I opened it but fortunately did not click on the button to see the cancelled item or the link to “Amazon”, something made me double check.

I rang Amazon and they confirmed the mail was not from them and that no order numbers from them start with 526.

Things to look out for are,
Dear customer instead of name,
To undisclosed recipients instead of your email address.
No items named.

Once you start to look it is obvious, but at this time of year when you are expecting items from Amazon it would be much easier to get caught!

If it was up to me I would superglue the scammers fingers to a concrete keyboard and toss ‘em in the sea!

Best wishes and keep safe.

Mayfield.
