"The Prime Minister has called for a change of emphasis so that we define our success not by the money we make, but by our ‘general wellbeing’."

"David Cameron's well-being survey, announced today. He's not having a giggle at our expense. He's going to spend £2million of our money (our money!) on determining just how content we are with our lot. "

I do hope Mr C will ensure that those who are losing their jobs will be asked, and those who find they are out of their homes because they can't pay the mortgage anymore, the homeless, etc

Money certainly can't make you happy...but lack of it can cetainly make you very stressed! ( to say the least) .

All that I can think of to say is " If your happy and you know it clap your hands " .

Will anyone in the country dare to admit to being " happy " , if they did , I'm sure the Government will look closely at them and work out what needs to be taken away from them : ((

Having said that , I've been feeling happy all day today , for no particular reason : ))

I think it is a disgusting waste of money. We are supposed to be pulling our belts in.

Just what we need, when thousands of us are being being made redundant ..... a survey to find out how happy we are...

Another great idea from the minds of the mindless

It really isn't fair lol, aside from a terrible waste of money...all of us are happy at some times, I am 'happy' when I watch a jay feeding at next door's bird table...but when the post comes ten minutes later I am miserable lol.

what will they do? provide free bird tables and ditch Royal Mail.....? ( I wish I hadn't said that, it seems all too possible lol)

It seems like a ridiculous idea to me . Can you imagine the answers that people are going to put on the forms ? I bet whoever gets the job of reading them and correlation the information will be getting a laugh a minute !
Is it going to be some sort of questionnaire ? Will people just bin it ?
I really can't imagine the " idea " getting off the ground at all .

~~~~~~ to Suzian .
But as Cameron said - you don't need money to be happy - and surely he should know. A multi-millionaire living rent -free, claiming expenses.
....yes, he certainly has his finger on the 'pulse' of the common man - and a sharpened finger nail to slice through the vein!
Priceless
"A Downing Street source said last night: ‘Next time we have a comprehensive spending review, let’s not just guess what effect various policies will have on people’s wellbeing. Let’s actually know.’
I'm delirious when I see NUFC win, when I hear my daughter's voice, when something reminds me of Ian, when I dream of a lottery win, when I go to Barcelona...
I'm less than delirious when I have to get up at 6.30am and find that it's snowing outside - when there's no bus - when there is a bus, but it's got no heating - when I look in the mirror and find yet another wrinkle.
My happiness today was founded on buying a really warm , probably never been worn , stripy jumper from the charity shop for £2.95 , I'm easily pleased .....lol
hiya back to you Amanda!
Somebody out there somewhere actually voted for this lot.
We'll all be happy in this Big Society - through the wardrobe door and second star on the right (pausing only to read the Daily Mail en route... )
Hello Sue ,
I don't read any news papers ( except the local one ) . Reading about politics for me , is a certain way to not feel happy at all : ((
I bet most of the people who voted Liberal are kicking themselves , methinks that maybe quite a lot of Students did just that .
That's about the size of it, Amanda. Just what we need to teach our youngest and brightest - a "cast iron guarantee" isn't worth zilch.
What price honesty, then?
Exactly Sue .......how many of those youngsters ( probable first time voters ) will ever bother to vote again ?
It seems to me that " politics " and " honesty " can't really be said in the same sentence , I'll stick by my motto of " it doesn't matter who you vote for the Government always get in " .
I hope you're wrong, Amanda - but I fear you could be right.
I've kept my political counsel for years from Rachel - my idea being to give her the tools to make her own mind up, and then let her do just that - but, hey ho, she's finally seen the light and joined a political party. Fortunately for mother-and-daughter harmony, it's one I have some sympathy with.
The morning is dark and cold and have just turned the heating on full blast. I am in my warm leopard/egg spotted favourite dressing gown,eating porridge with honey and drinking strong coffee. I woke up smiling when I realised I hadn't needed to get up once in the night for a pee and I was pain free. Soon I will take my dog out to the park.Later I have people coming for the the weekend. No biggies here, but lots of small,life enhancing little things so I feel my answer would be....yes I am Very Very Happy thank you:-)) BC XX
