I have found a " BMD " entry which I think is relevant to my research but the " Page " number has been crossed out and a different number entered which ends with " /S ". |

I think the "s" on the end of the record means that the person was subsequently adopted. I don't think this birth certificate would be issued - although I could be wrong. |

Over here in NZ - we have the letter S - which represents Still Birth. |

Many thanks for your replies - the entry I referred to is, I believe, the original entry for someone who was subsequently adopted and we are trying to find the original birth registration (her name of course was changed) - so it looks like this could be the one if Kath is correct. Maybe the way forward is to order the Birth ceritificate and take it from there. |
