Query re Birth Registration info

I have found a " BMD " entry which I think is relevant to my research but the " Page " number has been crossed out and a different number entered which ends with " /S ".
Can anybody tell me what this means and if there is a way forward from this without ordering a birth certificate to then discover it relates to the wrong person ?
Any help would be most appreciated

I think the "s" on the end of the record means that the person was subsequently adopted. I don't think this birth certificate would be issued - although I could be wrong.

Over here in NZ - we have the letter S - which represents Still Birth.

Many thanks for your replies - the entry I referred to is, I believe, the original entry for someone who was subsequently adopted and we are trying to find the original birth registration (her name of course was changed) - so it looks like this could be the one if Kath is correct. Maybe the way forward is to order the Birth ceritificate and take it from there.
If anybody has any different ideas I would still be interested.
