I need several large storage bags to stow away quilts.

Any recommended tried and tested good quality ones at reasonable prices, please?

When we change our summer/winter quilts, we roll the spare one, and put it in two pillowcases, one pulled on from each end. It really compacts it, and is easy to store.

We have closed up a caravan for the winter and I have 3 double quilts and 2 single ones to store, besides all the bedding.
If I could put them in those bags they will take up alot less room.
I wondered if the cheaper versions are poor quality and it's worth paying for a better product.
I'll have to go into town and see what's available.

There are loads of vacuum storage bags on the net, dau bought quite a few for cushions and bedding, I think they are all much the same, sorry she can't remember the name of which ones she bought :(
Don't think she bought either the most expensive or the cheapest but they work excellently :) ..with no smell of dampness or any mould.

That's another great option. I know there is a local Kleenezee lady.
Attic sounds fine to me. If stored away dry, the bedding should then stay that way, in a more compact size.

I buy mine from Poundland! Guess how much they cost? LOL
They're okay, as long as you don't vacuum up the little red rubber thing that seals the hole!!! *blush*
Am in the process of removing ALL black bags from the attic - have found that the biodegradable ones bio-degrade in the attic - throwing half of it out and vacuum-bagging the rest!

Biodegradable is a good idea, but not for storage , as I too have found. Had a TE**O bag of wool oddments, which ended up looking as if mice had been at it.

A trip to Poundland is on the cards then.

Lakeland Plas**c had them today - about £12 for 2. Not as inexpensive as the £shop, but you probably get what you pay for.

Too true, DET, (getting what you pay for) but mine are just replacing black bags.
The ones I've not lost the red rubber things for are still 'compacted' - a lot has to do with making sure the seal is closed.

There is sometimes an offer on the shopping channels and you get loads of them for £30 including an extra container to put the packed bags into. I have used various ones from Poundshop and other places and they do work well altho they can be heavy when filled. O.h. gets me very strong clear plastic sacks from work and I put the vac bag pack into the bags to help me lift them about, and not split the vac packs.

try your local dry cleaners, ours sells 'em but not sure of prices.

Lots of posts while I've been away from the boards....Thanks.

I bought some jumbo size bags in Argos today, 2 for £9.99 so I'll see how I get on. Once bagged, I won't move the quilts until about March or later, when we open up the caravan, so hopefully these will work OK .
May have to get more bags for the bedding, so the extra ideas will be useful.
