Yes Di, not only are they getting more frequent, they are starting to look very realistic - using the right company logos, the right colours etc, and the HMRC one even had the little 'secure site' logo at the bottom!!

Karen..... I had the same one yesterday and yes it was convincing but I didn't bite.

I had one today from the FBI! It asked me to open the attachment. Of course I didn't. If it was truly from the FBI they can come to my house as they'll know where I am.
These are getting more frequent aren't they. I get about 5 a week.

I had 3 from Lloyds TSB last week, and forwarded them on to the Lloyds phishing/fraudulent e.mails dept.
Had similar from HSBC aswell, so forwarded that to their fraud dept.

Yesterday I had a rather convincing looking one from HM Revenue & Customs telling me I had 181.57 tax rebate to claim. Worryingly, it looked very convincing. But the one thing that set my alarm bells ringing was that the spelling and English wasn't terribly good.
I looked up HMRC website for their fraud/scam e.mails dept and forwarded it on to them.
HMRC, the real ones, sent me a very nice thankyou letter today.
