Ohhh Lindsey l can't stop laughing here, sorry:o))))
We have a number of huskies in our area and the owners all say the same, but one owner does let his off the lead!!! And chase/catch anything...oh yess!
Strange diet, how did you find out that was what he wanted.

Sorry to hear they have gone now, but great memories and being a foster dog auntie is perfect:o)
Hope you get your insulin sorted!!

oops sorry, I nodded off, all part of changing to a new insulin, just call me Rip van Tinkle.!

I've no more of my own dogs, they all had super long lives, but I still look after friends pets with special needs, mines a jolly good hotel ! Boiled rice and chicken was always acceptable on off days.

The husky had the oddest diet, half a pound of cooking lard, 3 raw eggs, tinned cat food a different flavour every day,and anything she could catch. She would bury a rabbit then dig it up a few days later by which time it was easier to skin, but still got in a mess with all the fluff !
She has dragged me face down across a muddy field in pursuit of a squirrel, that was the first time I discovered loose huskies don't come back when they're called !
Don't you just love 'em !

Jude you are so right, they are great. Ours has practically taken over the house! She is so lovely though we just can't tell her off. A real big softie. Mad as a hatter just like the rest of us so she fits right in.

My shetland sheepdog has Chappie Original. Been on it for several years, after starting her on James Wellbeloved as a pup. The vet told me there was no need to have her on it, and so Chappie it is.

She has a couple of chocolate buttons (canine), if we leave her on her own to go out. At bedtime, she has one fifth of an arrowroot biscuit. Dog biscuits, bonios, etc seem to upset her tummy.

Cath.....Madoc is the same, he will eat ANYTHING and we have to watch him like a hawk along the river banks....(he's just come in and asked for his half bonio).

Jude, fish is fine, its high protein, no fat food. Huss (dogfish - really) has no pin bones, only a long soft gristle bone so it is ok.
Definately no chips or pickles though.

Our greyhound (GYPSY) loves cheap as chips Chappie! Usually give her 1 can tripe or Chappie and 1 dry meal a day. Gets quite a few bits and pieces from others though!!! Will eat absolutely anything she finds when walking so have to be vigilant. Don't give her any milk as it upsets her tummy but she loves cereal and has scrambled eggs and a slice of bacon for sunday breakfast.

Eddie, your mention of Huss made me feel hungry. Cant get it here.
We used to feed our dogs on canned food and dried food with gravy added. They all lived quite long active lives. Never had a fussy dog, now cats are a different matter!

Just re-read your post Lindsey*....bless him mushrooms and cucumbers!!

When l checked with the vet about the raw veg, she said yes thats fine but wash it the same as you would for yourself, the chemicals could effect him the same as us.

Julia...look forward to that:o))

Lindsey*....do they still eat that?? you say they would??

Madoc's other treat...forgot this is bonio's. he's allowed upto 2 a day, but usually gets one cause of all the other bits and pieces.

Thing is with him is that he knows when to ask for food, eg after doing his wee's in the garden, or he's been upstairs for a sleep (having wrecked my bed) and suddenly rushes downstairs wagging his tail and then puts his head on my lap....he then gets a piece of carrot or half a bonio.

My friends little Bichon was epileptic and on meat free dry diet, he craved mushrooms and cucumber as the drugs made him constantly hungry.

I'm embarrassed that my alsatians would eat canned rubbish off the pavement and always spotted the disguarded burger before I could wrestle it out of their jaws !

usually either fresh tripe or canned "butchers" tripe and a little dry Bakers or mixer biscuit
If I do a roast dinner she gets that, all the veggies (I never cook with salt), yorkies, the works.
If I'm cooking fish and chips she loves a piece of battered Huss.
Being a Lab she will eat anything, I've even known her demolish an unattended plate of chilli con carne.

We give Madoc Skinners Hyperalergenic (sp) dry food with albran.
The albran is because he has gland probs, the Skinners is because he had an alergy.
We also give him carrots and veg storks, cooked meat/fish as a treat and the occasional raw egg.
Other treats are MiniJacks.
He's not allowed milk nor any micro additive type meals.
