We've got a VW now Barry, but soo many happy days with FAnglia, children in the back and car stuffed to the roof with camping gear...like you say if only we could have another shot at those days of yesterday.

Yes Sue,and no hard hats! wearing less clothing too, probably a lot to do with hard work and burning off calories!

I'll tell you what - Snow is a darned good insulator!
Our caravan was as warm as toast when it was covered in a foot of snow!!

Good stuff, Mau

did you notice that the guys digging the snow at the beginning were wearing shirts and ties under their scarves - and not a hi-viz jacket in sight

Hi
Glad everyone enjoyed the clip from 1963,but it certainly was a long cruel winter.
My OH,a bricklayer, was laid off for 9 weeks due to sites closing down, ground /bricks frozen solid.

The men digging away the snow from the tracks were very hard workers. I especially liked the opening shot of the crates of milk bottles and scenery.
However passengers having breakfast didn't seem to suffer much!

.....10 years later on Barry we owned a Ford Anglia too....many happy holidays in our little jalop lol

LOL Barry!
Being the youngest (about 6) I was quite used to, and happy to use the potty (it was there for me anyway - I didn't like going out to the shed after dark). My elder sister & brothers (10, 12, &13) weren't too happy!!

HI Kriss,
The music's a bit early for me! However, I recognised it - seems my (much older) brother had some Sandy Nelson records!!
We were in the NE of Scotland during the 'Snow' of 1963, living in a caravan.
You know caravan doors open outwards..........
Well, we were totally encased in snow, unable to open the dor - and the loo was outside in a shed!! LOL

Brilliant! Loved the music too!
Made me wonder, we no longer have railway workers - theyre all contractors now - in this age of 'improvement' do we still have plough trains?
