they have now reached the expressway, things moving a little faster but still extremely slow. Cars & lorry abandoned all over the place. |

Radio 4 has just had a report on the M74 etc - fresh snow has caused many vehicles to slide and block the roads. |

I don't know which traffic jam it was but I heard on the news that local people were struggling to reach stranded people in their cars with blankets and hot soup etc. isn't it good the way strangers help others at such times. |

thanks for your messages everyone. They managed to get home very late last night. Once they got on the A724 things were not as bad, still extremely slow but at least moving. Cars were abandoned everywhere they said. They have never seen it as bad. What should have been a 9 hour journey home from us turned in to 16 1/2 hours. But at least they are safe and home. |

Glad they are safe now, I saw on the news that lots of people were stranded with no food etc, one truck driver opened his lorry and handed out crisps he should have been delivering. It was all the stranded folk had to eat, I suppose they had to eat mouthfuls of snow for liquid. |
