Do you live along this road. What is the traffic situation like?
My daughter, son-in-law and baby grandson have been stuck in traffic for 6 hours on the M74 then B7078, hopefully they will have reached Hamilton but still have miles to go.

they have now reached the expressway, things moving a little faster but still extremely slow. Cars & lorry abandoned all over the place.

Hi Joseanne, have you tried 'Traffic Scotland'?
It shows the messages on main roads, incidents, and has cameras so you can see the motorway.
I quite often look at 'Traffic England' for my area, as, even though I don't drive, if there's congestion on the M3 (near where I live) they cancel the bus home - despite the fact that it goes nowhere near the motorway!! LOL

Radio 4 has just had a report on the M74 etc - fresh snow has caused many vehicles to slide and block the roads.

I don't know which traffic jam it was but I heard on the news that local people were struggling to reach stranded people in their cars with blankets and hot soup etc. isn't it good the way strangers help others at such times.
Hope your family are ok now Joseanne. It must be so worrying with a small baby, does his Mummy feed him herself?

thanks for your messages everyone. They managed to get home very late last night. Once they got on the A724 things were not as bad, still extremely slow but at least moving. Cars were abandoned everywhere they said. They have never seen it as bad. What should have been a 9 hour journey home from us turned in to 16 1/2 hours. But at least they are safe and home.

Glad they are safe now, I saw on the news that lots of people were stranded with no food etc, one truck driver opened his lorry and handed out crisps he should have been delivering. It was all the stranded folk had to eat, I suppose they had to eat mouthfuls of snow for liquid.
Bet there was a lot of yellow snow around too poor people

Hope there aren't more accidents and people will take things steady, also they should make sure they are prepared for a hold up and take supplies with them and warm things too.
So many people jump in the car without a coat or boots or anything to keep them safe and fed and watered if there are delays.
