Thank you for all your replies..... plenty to try there..... Stangely we never had this problem until we had the loft insulated & cavity wall insulation...( no double glazing yet). so that seems to be the problem then.....Ventilation...... so much for keeping the cold out !!!

You need extractors fans that actually send the air outside not just into the loft space etc., in both the kitchen and the bathroom. Also like already mentioned leave the doors slightly open if you can, it helps alot.
Always use the fan when having a shower !
It works in Canada so should work for you in the UK right now.

Biggest factor in reducing condensation is better ventilation. You also need to reduce the humidity.

Other things to try:

Wall insulation
Exhaust fan in bathroom
Reduce water use in the house:- Keep saucepan lids covered. Check shower head to make sure it isn't atomizing the water into tiny droplets.

hello margaret..

we used salt in caravan to...

my advice is to keep a window open .while you are at home.. even in this cold weather ..mine is slightly open now...rads on full blast lol but you need air to circulate the heat ..i say this ..when i moved in my last house..it was very damp ..even mould growing..that was the advice i was given..open windows and keep it warm..

Libby i have to dry clothes in the flat..no communal drying space .. no room for dryer .. but i open windows when washing and drying.. no sign of any damp anywhere...

No clothes drying , so can't blame that..... Too cold to open window methinks.... Have tried wiping down though.... just as bad 5 mins later.... never had it like this before. BUT we have just changed the bathroom curtain for a venetian blind..... maybe the curtain absorbed most of it..... mmmm.

going to M*.... s later... will have a look for memories(brains).

I used the bowls of salt n my caravan during the closed season.

My kitchen and bathroom are suffering with condensation at the moment as well. Don't think the salt will work though because it is probably due to the fact that I permanently have clothes drying all over the place at the moment.

TRY A BOWL WITH SALT IN,
WE USE IT IN THE CARAVAN AND OH USES IT IN THE
GARAGE WHICH GETS A LOT OF CONDENSATION ON THE CEILING
