I clear our path before people crush the snow and turn it to ice.
We don't get much in this corner, so it's not something I have to do very often.

Dear Margaret in Sussex

Hello

Hope you are well.

Grit in carparks!

Down here in East End we didn't get one piece of grit for the roads or pavements when it snowed.

Take gentle care
Very best wishes
xx

In practice the Health and Safety Executive do not tell you what you can and can't do. HSE's job is to protect people against risks to health or safety arising out of work activities and provides advice, guidance and information
The decision to grit or not to grit your supermarket car park will have been taken by whoever owns it or is responsible for maintaining it.

Incidentally, how many times have you heard of someone being sued after cleaning the footpath outside their house?

Sue In Yorkshire. Report 9 Dec 2010 15:06

And yet the ""Councils"" are asking people to clear the footpaths to help them..but not supplying the grit or salt...

So you pay for the grit and salt and then if someone slips on the footpath you can be sued....

Gonna leave it for God the let it Thaw....

I think you might find,(words to the effect of..........)

if they grit, but do it badly and someone has an accident, then they can be sued...........
if they leave the ice alone and you slip, its YOUR fault!
