I just think that the show has gone from being a dancing competition to a personality contest in much the same way as X factor etc. It just seems a shame that better dancers who are not so popular are eliminated before their time. But I guess that's just a reflection of the hyped-up media world we live in nowadays

I agree Janet, if they all done the same dance each week it would b very boring, also Pamela is proving at 61 shes not on the scrap heap, and she can do new things.

I refer to other comments on this site and also on Chat. Why was I not surprised to see Pamela Stephenson in the final.....a foregone conclusion or what?? OK she isn't bad for her age but I am fed up with the BBC pushing her all the time and with the judges for giving her overrated marks compared to the others. She is pandered to on Strictly Take 2 and the judges (especially Len Goodman) are inconsistent with their comments. She really laboured during the Swingathon and yet was kept in for longer than she should have been.

I have never understood why the contestants don't compete against each other for the same dance. How can you compare a salsa to a waltz for example? It would be much fairer if the viewers could see the contestants perform the same dance each week and then vote. Yes, I know that some people will always vote for the person they like or know more about but it would be more transparent.

What do you think about not voting anyone off until they have performed more than that first dance? It doesn't seem right that potentially good dancers are not given a chance to improve beyond the first week.

Another idea might be for the judges to mark each contestant in order of the best dance of the week, carrying the scores forward until all the dances have been performed. That way, the audience could compare each contestant's Waltz/Quickstep etc. against one other. Just a thought from a very frustrated viewer and dance lover.
