X FACTOR FINAL - SLEAZY ???

In the Daily Mail today, a writer has said that the X Factor on Saturday night was sleazy. And yes, I do agree.
All I saw was semi nude girating bodies accompanying the performance of the two top acts.
I looked at the clock and saw it was just after 8.30., and thought, well this is well before the watershed. The programme is, after all, supposed to be family viewing.
It was a rather cheap shot at attracting viewers.

Well for once I agree with the Daily Fail. I wasn't impressed at the girls in suspenders at all. As you say it's supposed to be family viewing. I also wasn't impressed at the treatment of women as sex objects.

Morning Gals, thanks for your replies. Stray, I so agree with you. How can Take That be on both X factor and Strictly on both nights. Makes me wonder which programme was pre-recorded. Just read that Robbie is the cousin of Simon's brother-in-law. Makes yer wonder, dunnit.

Morning Julia and all, I agree it was sleazy and dragged
on for ever it seemed, I've had better entertainment watching
Magic Roundabout. Wasn't impressed with any of the contestants
although the final two have good voices but I thought this programme
was looking for a pop star!!!

Hi Julia,
In the past have enjoyed X factor, until last year, it started to irritate for the reasons you stated. Loads of background, loads of hype.lThis year, I gave the whole thing a miss. A lot of programmes are going completely over the top, and are losing the very essence that made them good in the first place. :-))

Hi Julia
How are you? I was thinking of putting up flares as I hadn't seen you posting lately.

Yes, I agree entirely, X Factor is tacky now. Too much special effects and not enough talent. Pairing Matt and Rebecca with Rhianna and Chavguilara was more about the latter than the contestants.

'Burlesque' was not family viewing. I don't want gussets with my saturday supper thank you very much.

We recorded Sundays ep, two hours??? Whizzed through the chaff and watched about half an hours worth.

I think I'll be giving it a miss next time - I lived without it for the first couple of years so I can do it again.

Hi Gals, thanks for your replies.
Firstly, they made it all boring, all along, with 2 hours on a Saturday and another on Sunday. Quite honestly, by the time it finished last night, I was crawling the wall with sheer boredom.
Yes Island, I have been absent for about a week, I spent a few days at my consultants drum.
Gussets on Saturday night's supper was just abit over the top for me.
Will seriously have to reconsider my Saturday nights when the new series starts. It was all to much.
We thought Rebecca was miles better than Matt, and wondered if she was asked to tone her marvellous voice down, because it had been pre-destined for Matt to win. She could have done so much more with that voice of hers.
And, what about all that Take That. On both nights on both Stricktly and X-Factor. How did they do that????

I agree about the tacky. But Emma I think you'll find it is looking for a recording star, not a pop star. So that covers any of the final five I suppose. I read this morning that all five will probably be given a contract as all will appeal to different demographics.

Hi Stray
I love Come Dine With Me lol

I also thought 'Burlesque" was a bit a bit much for the time shown.

However I did find the contestants all deserved to be in the final three.

Rebecca's voice was superb, but I think people are fed up with the same sounds a la Alexandra Burke & Leona Lewis. I don't doubt she will have a career when shes allowed to be signed up.

One Direction were a really good boy band who already seem to have a fan base. Hopefully they will do as JLS & come back from being losers to winners, like JLS did.

I'm also glad Matt won. His voice range is brilliant.

How many pop stars can sound as good as these three acts live ? Not that many I would imagine.

I think Rebecca has a future singing blues and maybe jazz, she reminded me a bit of Ella Fitzgerald/Nina Simone Cleo Laine and other more modern jazz singers. I would buy an album of hers. I'd probably buy Matt's as well depending on what he sings. And I will buy an album of Mary's if she makes one.

Morning Gals. According to the front page of today's Mail, this has now been reported to Ofcom, to launch an enquiry, after they received over 1,000 complaints. Viewers "also accused ITV of breaking the bond of trust with viewers by failing to tone down the performances for younger fans".
So, it was not just me that was offended.

Just seen photos in paper - no prude but they are disgusting as OH said those sort of photos used to be on the top shelves!

Was a bit OTT for that kind of show, they should have had a few more bits covered up and toned it down a bit.

I'm glad Matt won. I always thought he was best. Saying that, the last two weeks he wasnt so good due to being ill.
Rebecca was good too but I dont like her 'tone'.I liked her singing a few songs though...the faster ones.

I'm sure they will all do well.

The same programme that exposed the fact that Matt had been consistently top except for the first week also exposed the fact that had they not had that sing off when Mary went out and cher stayed in, Mary would have stayed in she had 15% of the vote and Cher had 11,5%.

Just listening to him on the car radio as I came home, he was asked about the article in the S*n , he said there was a drop of truth in it. But denied some of what was reported.... There is something in all our pasts that wouldn't make good reading ( or Would! lol) if the S*n got hold of it....it's all in the telling isn't it.

Good luck to him and all the finalists who should have some kind of success off the back of the programme anyway.
