buying or wrapping which is the hardest?

well i spent hours last night getting my final parcels wrapped and then brown paper wrapped ready for sending as soon as po opens today. phew what a job, i had forgotten just how much is involved and the time. i finally finished at 1 am.

but trailing around looking for gifts is equally exhausting, especially if you cant find or get what you want! i ordered some things online which were despatched on the 7 dec and am still waiting for them.

so which is worse buying or wrapping and sending?

For me sending is worse if they have to be posted. ages spent in the long post office queue at our local P.O.

But I prefer buying to wrapping these days. I find the floor the best place to wrap and 70 year old knees don't take kindly to crawling arouns on the floor. I wrapped almost the last presents last night as well and that took me 2 hours. The problem is that daughter and her OH always have lots of tiny presents from us, all wrapped. Takes some time to do!

Like giving presents, but the obtaining of them and parcelling and posting are a real effort. Thankfully I dont have many to do.

Posting is the worst, although I don't actually post any now! I went into our town post office on Monday 6th to get stamps and to send 1 card by air mail. It was like Saturday afternoon at a football match!! Gave up and went to local PO - had to queue in there for 20 mins! I love wrapping presents - nowadays its only a few for OH as we don't give as a family now. The only children are my 3 great-nephews (complicated family situation means it easier to send money).

Just got the credit card statement in this morning, makes the buying and wrapping pale into insignificance! :-(

All the best,
Mayfield. :-)

I know I may be sticking my neck out here, but I love 'wrapping'.
Let me tell you a little story.
As a young lass, some fifty years ago, my first job was as the office junior/mailroom assistant/tea masher, for the hosiery company Aristoc.
Part of my duties was to take orders that had come in the post, as they did in those days, to the packing department. There I watched a man, pack a single box of stockings, in brown kraft paper, into a package about 5x3x1/2". It was a work of art. And from there I learned the proper art of packaging, which I still use today.
I like the giving also, but as these days all my grandchildren have homes of their own, they are always gratefull of a few crispy notes in a Christmas Card. Of the few I do by for, I have found that the garden centres have a lovely selection of gifts, gardening and non gardening, and always have the best selection of Christmas Decorations.

Writing out cards and wrapping is now the hard bit for me.
I do love the shopping, but even that is often a bit of a bind from a wheelchair.... SO... the net is a Boone to me. I just love it.
The only thing which has not turned up yet is a pair of warm slippers I bought for .... MYSELF!
So what's new then? ha ha ha

Merry Christmas all,

well thats that all done and dusted or so i thought. after posting 4 parcels and loads of cards, guess what my usual courier arrives with 2 parcels i was waiting for. so yep i will be late again wrapping these up to go tomorrow.

but i have to say there is something very satisfying looking at lots of pretty parcels all done with ribbons and bows.

i am usually more organised and by the 1st dec am nearly finished. but of course i was in hospital for a couple of days away on the mainland getting my nose operation and then when i got home caught a nasty chest infection which is just about away, thanks to 2 doses of steroids and antibiotics. so my usual routine has gone out of the window.

but this time next week my children will be around the tree, trying to guess and feel etc, even though they are teenagers they are still getting excited. may this last for a few more years yet. i just love this time of year and all that goes with it.

hope you all have a lovely christmas

The whole of last evening was spent wrapping things for the carers.

The old man likes to open his grotto at this time of year.

I usually buy fairly inexpensive gift sets throughout the year to give to them as it ensures warm hands! On occasion they have come in first to put him on the commode early when he needed it and then come back later to put him to bed, which they did not need to do.

I love buying and wrapping. It takes me ages to wrap for our large family so this year I wrapped as I bought and made a list so as I would'nt forget what I'd already done. All under the tree now waiting for the big day. Will definitely do the same next year.
Seasonal good wishes to you all.
