I had a similar thing with my car. Took it in for a service, tracking out & needed adjusting.........fair enough I thought.

6mths later changed all 4 tyres & mechanic said tracking out!!....... It should have been toe in & not toe out (or visa versa)

Might be worth reporting that to your local Trading Standards office - just so that they can put it on record if there are any other complaints

That is the sort of thing that makes you want to get it in the local press to protect other people doesn't it? No need to mention the garage but just to say always get a second opinion. And no doubt you will be wary of that garage in future.

I mentioned on another thread a few weeks back that I had taken my Smart for it's first service- £153 but I thought it a good idea to get the dealer's stamp on the first one.

Well, having been told it would take an hour,I waited three before it was finished.Upon paying I was told the tracking was out and I could book it in with them for £100 plus VAT.

We have a local tyre specialist who also adjusts track.I asked him for a price.£20 plus VAT.

This morning I took it in to him, only to be told the track was less than 1mm out and did not need adjusting at all.

Having spent time in the motor trade myself,I knew to look elsewhere before booking in at a main agents but I wonder how much money they must be making from those who have not.
