We like to eat Mince Pies, any time of the year. I make large quantities of luxery mince meat, and just about use it up when it is time to make a new batch for the next year. For my Mince Pies, I like to use a sweet dessert pastry for the bases, and Flakey or Ruff Puff for the lids. |

I always do homemade - I don't make many because we don't like them a great deal. I make them quite small (2-3 bites worth), with shortcrust rolled as thinly as possible. Even if I say so myself, I'm not bad at shortcrust pastry! |

I have to make quite a large amount of green tomato mincemeat most years as it is much less rich than conventional mincemeat and is absolutely sumptuous on toast. |

Don't like sweet mince pies made with flakey or ruff puff....I make mine with sweet, shortcake pastry dusted with lots of icing sugar and served with brandy butter |
