I guess you could shortcut the recipe by mixing extra plain oats with ready mixed muesli (Lidl do some good ones) and add apple if you have it . Sounds a bit like a flapjack mix in a way.

Well,yes,it is a variation on porridge but you bake it in the oven like a rice pudding. It is a long,slow cook rather than a quick brew up on the stove top.

I don't think I have the milk pudding experience to cook it to perfection without very detailed instructions.Actually,I can barely make toast without very detailed instruction!

My mate,who is nearly seventy,was telling me this was always her favourite pudding when her mum made it. It is a milk pudding,made with porridge oats,butter and golden syrup and it came from the side of the Quaker Oats packet.

I had a go at it today without the benefit of a recipe and it was alright but not so very different from porridge.

Has anybody else come across it? Have you made it? What proportions do you recommend and what temperature would you cook it at please?
