Winstone Churchill, and his fellow patriots must be turning in their graves to see so much, of what they, and the british people fought wars for, sold off to foreigners........

I agree, Rita, have always been against the Common Market, and the breaking up of Britain. Wont be long before we wont be able to shop in English here in Wales. I've been here for 70 yrs and no one here spoke welsh when I came. Worked a market stall in Abergavenny for 8yrs and never heard it spoken. Now all children have to learn it and shops have to be bi-lingual, all because of vociferous Welsh Nationalists.

It is not selling the family silver - that assumes it has some value to start with. This is a pile of rusting junk that no one wants.

Basically the postal service is bankrupt, its pension fund is seriously in the red and as stated the last government sat there and did nothing.
Sad, perhaps, but inevitable.

Yes l know Thatcher started it big time and l did'nt approve then, nor did l vote for the cons, nor this time round either!!
Yes l knew about EDF and loads of others but what can we do about it. Its not our fault, if we protest we are ignored.

Some of us patronize foreign firms when they are an improvement and some other people just patronize.-jlb

Its called selling the family silver.
Thatcher started it big time and it has continued ever since.
For example, did n't you realise Jaguar Cars was now Indian?
Or EDF energy was French and that our nuclear energy business is now French?
The list is endless.
Its a bit late to shout now though ladies. You should have thought about it years ago.

Hello Jean....no l did'nt know this for sure, although l knew it been talked about:o(

Yes l agree it would a crying shame to sell the Post Office, just as its a crying shame that local/village post offices keep closing.
The UK is gradually selling everything off. Engineering companies have moved abroad......my b i l was one of three top ENGINEERS in his field inthe world...he was made redundant 2-3yrs ago and he became a changed man, sadly he died in August!! l wonder how many more people are going to feel this way when the Post Office is sold off, as will the Air and Safety on Anglesey....and anything else the Government care to rid us of!! They're must be other ways of making money!!??

There was an item on Radio 2 news this morning about any foreign company buying Royal Mail being made to keep the Queen's head on our stamps.

I think it was announced some time ago that Royal Mail would be be put up for sale and that employees would be made shareholders.

Our mail service isn't as bad as some. We have friends living in France and at Christmas if any of their friends are coming back to the UK, all the Brits in the area give them their cards to post because it is cheaper and they can be more sure of them arriving.

our postmen do a wonderful job with little or no back-up. Its a shame.

Had anyone else heard of the post office being up for sale? How come this government is selling off Britain by inches. Did we win the last war to be taken over now without a fight? Seems foreign countries can make money out of us whether we like it or not, We will soon be equivalent to a third world country living off hand-outs. I feel ashamed at times, I really do.
