Well It was Bought by a little known Spanish Construction Company with no Idea or experience of running one. They Borrowed £10 Billion to buy it.Last year they took £1Billion Profit and now owe £12Billion.With not a lot spent on equipment for bad weather emergency services.as I said "Spanish Practices".Time we stopped selling things off and took them back instead.**M**.

Yes, heard that heathrow refused help.....

What was even more frustrating was that it was on the web that the flight had been cancelled a good hour before the airline announced/admitted cancellation........ Son phoned & told us..... Total lack of info... & they wonder why we get "a little annoyed"

Apart from the Snow and freezing conditions, the whole fiasco was probably down to "Spanish Practices" or Malpractices.**M**.

How disappointing for you all. The spanish owners of Heathrow have a lot to answer for. Apparently also Army offered to help clear runways and this was refused. You are entitled to rant.

Aye lads, I too remember the winter of 63,,,, no where near as bad as 47... Thas not t'only ones to have memories of snowed in for weeks.......and no I don't have a 4x4 or access to one.
BUT
families didn't live so far away........
Now I appreciate there are many many people in the same , or sim ilar situations......& I really feel for them.
We were flying to Texas for big meet up......Spent the night on the floor of T 3 heathrow..Not easy at our age... flight cancelled 2 hours before take of time. Sunday....... No coaches , buses or taxis to get home!!!!
Managed on B.Rail... 4 trains.!! Lugging heavy suitcases
Flight offered for rebooking. Boxing day( not guarranteed) no extention at end of hol. so only 3/4 days there, that is IF we got there. So took refund which will take 8 weeks & look at another date.... won't be the same tho

The whole family are distraught.

Thank you for listening to my rant.....

Margaret.

I don't think you're whinging at all, Margaret. I'd feel the same. Not too bad in Sussex to-day, so fingers crossed for you. Depends which part of the country, I suppose, others have been affected far worse than us down south.

I feel for you Margaret - although some make light of it. It's not often I have all of mine together because of distance but at least here in Oz I don't have to worry about being snowed in.

Yeah but it is winter. Stop whinging and get on with life.

My son was working in Botswana and was due to come home last Saturday. He managed to get to Jo'burg but then Heathrow closed.

His company moved heaven on earth to get him back and arranged for him to go to Switzerland to meet up with his girlfriends mum and dad. She was then to fly out from the uk , so at least they would all have some sort of a Christmas.

Got to Frankfurt but the airport there closed. Eventually got a train but bags are in transit so he has the clothes he is wearing.

Booked back to the UK on the 28th but all have different flights and destinations. Crossing fingers that we will have family for New Year.
