Hello Chris....you must have:o)) its where the process cleans up space on your computer, and compresses it. So where you have deleted something and left a space (or something like that), to defrag means it sorts it out and makes it neat. |

It seems to me that Sue has done a lot of the Disk clean up suggested by Glittery. I have XP, but to defrag I click Control panel, click Performance and maintenance, click Re-arrange items on hard disk. ( think I initially had a hiccup on this as I didn't know to start by clicking something in the top lefthand corner on this page!) |

chris, when you delete stuff, it isnt always in a block of data, it is in bits n pieces all over your hard drive. |
