Favourite carol - and why

Set the scene for us as to why a carol has become your favourite.

I love In the Bleak Mid-winter played by a brass band. As a small child and believer in both Jesus and Father Christmas. standing at Warrington town Centre on the type of evening mentioned in the song. Very moving in those less affluent times and left a deep impression on me.

Seasons greetings to all. Remember that Christmas can be a state of mind as well as season.

Happy days Tug of war tonight - well it is Christmas heave.

O Holy Night, Sung, or any of the carols sung by Josh Groban.
I could listen to these for ages.

In the late sixties I was expelled from a grammar school (don't ask but I know you are not surprised) and had to go to work in factories.

Of course,at Christmas,we would all sing carols as we worked very slowly. They were all singing the one I had only learned in Latin. It was Adeste Fideles and it won me no friends!

I don't think I have a favourite but I like In Dulce Jubilo and the heavier ones too.

Oh Holy Night has to be my favourite, reminds me of my dad.
Dont mind who is singing it as long as they do it justice.

It came upon the midnight clear, that glorious song of old, of angels bending near the earth Etc. Only remember words if singing, and I dont want to spoil anyones Christmas!

Hello

Hope you are all okay.

My favourite is "Silent night" sang by SInead O'Connor.

I first heard this version during a TV programme called
"The Ghosts of Oxford Street" in 1991.

It recalls all different legends and tales about Oxford Street.

When Sinead sings this carol, it is so moving and mesmerising.

A very happy Christmas to you Harry. I enjoy reading and adding to your posts. They remind me of my youth!!

A peaceful and contented Christmas to all.
