Thanks G. I was only thinking about you earlier and feeling guilty cos I owe you a reply to your previous pms.

I think the cold is going slowly as I am not so sniffly as I was, it's been a real nuisance tho and I could have done without it!

Dawnie, bless you lol, your children will say in years to come, do you remember the year Mum sat on her bum all day with a poorly ankle/foot and couldn't get used to being treated like a Queen lol Your hubby is a star isn't he?

Gillian Jennifer, you and your family were in my thoughts as were many people who don't find celebrations easy, and I was also thinking of all those family and friends of mine gone this year who could no longer send me a card and me them.

Yet I had cards from new friends made over the last year and that was nice, and one friend who I found a hubby for still sends a card even tho I can't respond as I have lost her new address and never did know her new married name! How I wish she would write her address on the back of her envelope or card, bless her. Surely she must wonder why I never reply.

O.h. came back from seeing his granddaughter, he was home by 5pm even tho they had done a round trip of nearly 90 miles from about 11 am - hardly seems worth going all that way to just have a bit of lunch and see the baby for an hour. I thought I might have been lucky and had more time to myself.

I still have this rotten cold, my nose would rival Rudolph's and o.h. is still coughing everywhere!
Seems the baby has an umbilical hernia now. O.h.'s son, her daddy, was a very greedy baby and little one is the same apparently, o.h. gave her a bottle and she couldn't gulp it down quickly enough and then cried cos she had wind which causes her a lot of pain.
Life is not all rosy as they expected, wonder if she will be an only child?

Oh well, nearly back to normal for a few days, wish I could feel up to getting out to the sales, I have vouchers and money to spend and can't do it.

It's my late parents' wedding anniversary on Wednesday and their names are together in the Book of Remembrance at the Crematorium so I will probably try and go there and then put flowers on my daughter's grave too as it's only a little way from the room where the book is to her grave.

Hello everyone, thanks for the good wishes and hope everyone had a good time.

Best of wishes for the New Year, and roll on Summer lol At least the days are starting to get longer aren't they? Not that it's noticeable yet but at least I know more daylight will be on the cards as we go through the next few months. There's one good thing about the snow, it makes everywhere so much brighter with the reflection of the whiteness.
Hope everyone has been able to get around safely. Norwich hasn't been too bad at all, most of the snow gone now so I can walk about without fear of slipping over.

Well another Christmas Day over with sad things on the news to make me realise that I have been luckier than some families. How I feel for that poor family whose daughter went missing and has been found dead. There have been other tragedies too, one 40 year old woman killed on Boxing Day morning in a car that was hit by a lorry with the 12 yr old lad passenger suffering serious head injuries, just a few miles from here.

I watched the prog One Born at Christmas and it was lovely to see all the new little lives arriving safely altho it made me even more sniffly lol.

I ended up with a stinker of a cold again, o.h. has been coughing and sneezing for over a week and of course, wasn't particular where he spread his germs so I became gradually worse on Christmas Eve.
I struggled out of bed on C. Day to start the lunch and o.h. went to pick up my son and by the time we had opened gifts and such I served Lunch at 5pm lol It all went well but I had the smallest Christmas dinner for a long time, I just didn't feel hungry. My lad enjoyed his and I remembered to take a pic of him in front of a piled up plate, a sort of tradition from when he was young and would tuck into 5 small Yorkshire puds and all the usual Christmas fare. For a change my son wasn't in a rush to get elsewhere so o.h. didn't take him home until around 10pm, it was lovely to have him there with us. I was far too tired and unwell to drive safely so stayed in the warm and watched tv and dozed lol I blame it on my age, the snoozing!

Despite him still having a cough, o.h. has convinced his son he is well enough to visit the new baby today (8 weeks old now) with his father but I bet he hasn't told him I am poorly again so lots of germs around for his dad to pass on.
Not my problem tho, he should have told the truth but it gets him out my hair for a few hours. Maybe there will be a snowstorm and the two of them will have to stay overnight lol I would be fine, lots of food in the cupboards and fridge/freezer, plenty of chocolate and wine, and three new books at Christmas, two novels set in Liverpool, from my lad, and the second of Paul O'Grady's books. O.h. got me the first one and actually noticed his stepmum had the second so quizzed her and found where to get it for me.
I did get some nice gifts, some cute elephant holders with tiny candles in and a 'mother' one too from my son (I collect all things with elephants on) He also found for me a pretty silk trinket box with an embroidered and beaded elephant on the lid, and got me the Susan Boyle cd. O.h. gave me the new Take That cd and also The Soldiers new one so lots to listen to. Got another box of Violet and Rose cream chocs from Hotel Chocolat and also some other yummy chocs from o.h. and some money towards some new boots if I can find some I like. Must get out soon to the sales as last year I missed the chance of the boots I wanted when I was so unwell after my fall.

All my lovely cards are so cheerful and the room looks nice with the small tree lit and the icicles hanging round the room too. It will be good to relax over the next few days and I will try to catch up with some of my 'phone' friends when o.h. is not around lol He is doing some overtime later this week so more peace for me when he is at work.
Oh and I plan to send him out for takeaways too, I did bring fish and chips back on Christmas eve to save one lot of cooking and plan to have some more lazy times till after the New Year lol

Take care all, hope you all had good times and made good memories and that you will all stay well and safe in whatever weather you are getting.

love and hugs

Thanks folks, I enjoyed reading through my cards again as we put them up on display, they hang from the iclcle lights o.h. strung round the room.
So many lovely cards, many hand made too which are really special but the thought behind them all is lovely and heartwarming.

Have a good Christmas everyone, and take care, those that have bad weather. We are fairly clear here but even so just a few miles up the road a coach overturned yesterday afternoon, pensioners on an outing to Holt to see the lights, it's always a place that people go to because the lights are noteworthy and then the poor people end up with their coach on it's side. Luckily everyone was strapped in so altho many injured, none dead and none critically injured. I hope they all make a good recovery, such a shame after a nice day out and perhaps many of them ready to be picked up by family members for Christmas Day,

on the boards.

Hope we all have a good year, with less illness, sadness, loss and worry despite what our government are trying to do to us!

It would be good if the boards could perk up again and there be lots of folk around to support or help those who need it, and to rejoice in good news from those who have it.

Stay warm and safe everyone,
love
Lizxxx

I have to apologise to some of you who probably haven't received the usual card from me, I got a bit muddled and think I sent some cards twice and others not at all. What with o.h. coughing and spluttering in my ear cos he has man flu and trying to juggle several things at once, I realised the other day, too late for posting, that I had missed several people off my list.
I hope everyone who has been so supportive of me will forgive me, and also forgive my not always replying to pms, so many arrive in my inbox that I sometimes forget I haven't replied, I read them and intend to respond later when I have more time, and then more come and I don't get to reply to everyone. It's not because I don't appreciate the message or don't care, it's because my brain is struggling in overload (and old age is creeping on)
Many thanks for all the love and kindness I have received this year, it's been a difficult one and so many of you have understood and supported me with kind words, and sent caring thoughts.

May you all have a good Christmas and be warm and well fed.
Let's hope the coming year isn't as bad as we are being led to expect.

love and hugs and many thanks,

Lizx

Right, that's the royal speech over, catch you all later.
