Tunis Cake

Can you still get them? I used to work with a woman who said her husband's Christmas was a boiled tongue and a Tunis cake. He didn't care about anything else.

I haven't seen one for years and I am not going to boil a tongue either!

I vaguely remember them, but i wouldnt give you a halfpenny for boiled tongue, cant stand the stuff!

I saw some today in S........ys and they were selling them off cheaply.
Its the first time Ive seen them in ages, we used to have one when I was a child.!!
Doesnt look like they were very popular.!!!

Now Kunzle cakes were expensive so you didnt get chance to eat many, but they were gorgeous!

Looks like some shops may still have them. I must admit I've never heard of them, obviously something that Mum never bought (or made!) Kunzle cakes I do remember vaguely.

Wow Tunis cake,

My late Mum used to always have one every year.
I didnt know they were still about.
Am I right in thinking it was a mederia type base with chocolate and marzipan?
