LAST NIGHT'S TELLY - THE PITS

I have never been so bored with the telly as I was last night. There was only the two of us, so after the meal, we settled down for an evening's viewing. After Emmerdale and Corrie, the rest was absolute rubbish. Even The Royale Family did not live up to expectations, and I did not find anything to laugh at.
During one ad. break in Emmerdale I counted 10 ads. plus there own advert at the beginning and end, and a trailer for another programme. Then every ad. break, I noticed it was the same ads. everytime.
So, today in Britain, our entertainment is to go to furniture and flooring sales, and just for a change, you can pop into B & Q.
I was glad when it was time to go to bed at 10.00.
Moan over.

I can't stand soaps and never watch them and I can't abide the Royle Family either but I really enjoyed Poirot, I thought it was a brilliant adaptation and David Suchet was brilliant.

I didnt get to watch any telly last night, i was too busy losing every game i played. This was due to the fact that not only had someone put my leg's on back to front whilst i wasn't looking, resulting in a total lack of coordination, and that i only had the use of the one eye. For some unknow reason, my right eye seemed to have double vision which seemed to cause unclear and abnormal enunciation.
Thats the last time i eat gammon boiled in cider and no mistake!!!
Happy Boxing Day ......... Susan xxx

Julia - if you like swing BBC2 at 9.20 was brilliant. We watched Strictly with the mute button at the ready for Bruce! We enjoyed one of the 3 dvds son bought us of Morecombe and Wise Christmas specials - magic as these were the full specials not sketches.

Have not seen Corrie for a week so am completely lost.

Gwynne, I'm glad you enjoyed Poirot, but we have never been able to get into this, the same as Midsommer Murders. They are abit too slow for us, but I appreciate both programmes have a huge following.
Prickles Babes - you sure it was the Gammon and Cider, that did it for you LOLOL
Chris. had I realised the programmes after Emmerdale ans Corrie were going to be so awful we would have put a DVD on aswell. I bought a boxed set of Andre Rieu, and could have happily watched that until bedtime.
By the look of tonight's schedules, it looks as if that is what we shall be doing.
Have a lovely day all, whatever you're doing. Rather cold here to go out, though it is a lovely sunny day. May have a drive out if it warms up, just to get out of the four walls. Have been indoors for a week now. Think a touch of 'Cabin Fever' is taking hold. LOLOL

Bored with it

The highest rated film yesterday was "Singin in the Rain" which I have seen so many times before.

Not one decent film on over the Christmas period

"Cabin" fever took hold yesterday and I tried to clear the path -managed about 6 feet and hoped the sun would thaw out the ice left - but no such luck. Still got 20 feet left to clear and it is still about 5 inches deep and crunchy

I quite enjoyed" Come fly With Me", a spoof fly on the wall airport programme with David Walliams & Matt Lucus in.

It had me PMSL all the way through

hi julia, i agree the tv was rubbish. i have to admit i dont find the royale family funny at all. the old man whatever his name is ,is really quite vulgar, not my cup of tea at all. even come fly with me wasnt a patch on the original series a while back.

my son got a few dvds which came in handy. one was 3 of the carry on films lol. he recently has just got into the humour and loves them and so do we so we shared them.

i really like funny things, someone mentioned morecombe and wise, excellent and the 2 ronnies. but sadly there is nothing that can match them now. i must be getting very old. what happened to xmas day totp that was always a must wasnt it?

also they use to have a live programme where they went to hospitals and gave out presents to children stuck there over the holiday? havent seen that for a long time.

oh how things have changed!

remember tonight at 9pm benidorm. now that is hilarious.

anyway hope you all had an enjoyable day.

Hello Florence, If I had known what was in store for last night, before hand, I was too busy to look things up, I would have got some DVD's to run instead.
As much as I like Come Dine With Me, it is wearing abit thin at the moment.
I remember those hospital programmes, which I think were broadcast during Christmas Day. I did manage to catch the programme of Noel Edmunds, the other day, where he gives Christmas suprises to people, and quite enjoyed it.
Before Emmerdale came on last night, OH had the film 'Remains of the Day' on one of the other channels, and quite got into it, realising I had never seen it all the way through. So now I am going to get it on DVD when I get out to the shops again.
I have earmarked the Benidorm programme for tonight, and think I will run an Andre Rieu DVD, until then.
Had a cursory look at the TV listings in today's papers, and must admit there is nothing that particularly grabs me.
Enjoy the rest of the Chritmas holiday and 'Happy' viewing

Had a little treat though, 'From time to time' just shown , based on the 'Children of Old Knowe' books by Lucy Boston, Maggie Smith is always worth watching and the house featured in it, whilst not the manor owned by Lucy Boston was very interesting :))

(released on dvd Feb'
"Based on Lucy M Boston s best selling novel The Children of Green Knowe and directed by Oscar Winner & Writer of Gosford Park and Downton Abbey Julian Fellowes. Starring the inimitable Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonneville (both of Downton Abbey), Timothy Spall (Secrets & Lies) and Dominic West (The Wire) comes an engrossing family ghost story. In times of war two centuries apart, two distinct worlds are linked by a single family and the house in which they live. It is 1944 and thirteen year-old Tolly Oldknow (Alex Etel, Cranford) is sent to spend Christmas with his grandmother (Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey), whilst his mother searches for news of his father in wartime London. Spending his days exploring the sprawling ancestral estate, he begins to uncover family secrets and ghosts from the past as he becomes a witness to events during the Napoleonic wars and finds himself slowly drawn into participating in the drama. Invisible to most people in the past, yet able to move amongst them, he begins to unravel the mystery which has bewildered his family for two centuries. The solution to the puzzle leads him into his greatest adventure yet... A wonderful heart-warming story of a young boy learning the value of his family and its history. "
