WALLIS SIMPSON was having an affair with Hitler's foreign minister when Edward VIII gave up the throne to marry her, according to records which have been released in the US.

The late Duchess of Windsor started seeing Joachim von Ribbentrop when he was the Nazi ambassador to London in 1936 in the months before the abdication.

I enjoyed it and liked the way it was linked to the old series by Rose (Jean Marsh). I think it has potential.

I really enjoyed it, I am too young to remember the first series so it is all new to me. Can't wait for tonights episode!

I have been watching the old series up to a few weeks ago on Sky when it finished. Am willing to give this a go. Edward was a nazi lover but then so were many in his circle of friends - that is why he was such a danger to us ( a real loose cannon) during the early part of the war until they got him to Bermuda/Bahamas.
Hitler's idea was to conquer us and put Edward in as a puppet king. Just googled von ribbentrop and Mrs Simpson - very interesting.

No not a re-run it is a brand new series by Jean Marsh who was behind the original and appears in this too. Wife is watching it now having recorded it.

OK in its time but the original eventually lost the plot altogether and I wonder if it's now past it's sell by
