I also remember it well...my son loved it and so did I. We had it later on video and he knew the script word for word.

History repeating itself...my middle grandson loves the Clone Wars series and so do I lol. We bought him series 1 and 2 on DVD for Christmas. Guess what we will be watching over the next few days!

Dear All

Hello

Hope you are okay.

On this day in 1977, thousands of people were flocking to cinemas in the UK to watch the long-awaited blockbuster, Star Wars.

Bracing the cold weather, young and old queued from 0700 GMT in London at the Dominion, and Leicester Square cinemas.

Star Wars, first released in America seven months ago, took audiences by storm and grossed $156m (£108m) at the box office.

Carrie Fisher, Sir Alec Guiness and little known Harrison Ford starred in this fairytale set in space.

Produced by Gary Kurtz, written and directed by George Lucas who directed American Graffitti, the U-classified sci-fi film was a classic epic of good versus evil.

It has enthralled audiences under a dazzle of special effects with wizards, heroes, monsters in "a galaxy far, far away".

The build-up and hype leading to store wars over Star Wars with products including T-shirts, sweets, jig-saw puzzle, watches and food.

Take gentle care
Very best wishes
xx
