LittleWhiteDove2022351 Report 28 Dec 2010 14:51

My lovely Mum Lily died on Boxing Day morning after a long battle with altzheimers and most recently tummy problems.
She fought right to the end to stay with us she was such a strong willed woman.
It was so hard to watch as she dropped 5 stone in weight.

My Mum used to love hearing about all our antics and stories here on the GR boards. For those laughs we had I am grateful to all old friends on here.
God Bless you Mum RIP.
Love Triciaxx

She sounds as if she was a feisty lady. You will miss her but her illness was one which at its worst makes people unrecgnisable. You have been spared that. God bless you all.

Thankyou all so much for your kind thoughts.
Dreadful illness, but a lot of people on here gave me support in the early years on the dementia threads..
We were lucky Mum still recognised us even at the end. She'd forgotten almost everything else but family stayed with her.She was always calm and dignified too.I wiped a lot of her tears this week, I think at times she knew.
She was physically unrecognisable and all of us during the past year during her stays in hospital were guilty of walking past her bed.Especially the last 3 mths. She looked like a belsen victim at the end..seriously.

Much more needs to be done for Altzheimers care and support and education as to what it does..The money's there it just doesn't get to where it needs to be!
God Bless all those who are suffering with it or watching a loved one. xxx
