Problems with Myheritage.com spam & hijacking

Is it me, or does anyone else have a problem with spam from myheritage.com?

I have been trying for the last year to get off their list & despite following the links to unsubscribe & emailing customer services and several other people, I continue to get regular spam from them

Also, when I originally joined myheritage, they hijacked my internet homepage ithout permission (or sneakily burying it in the smallprint), so that I would go to myheritage whenever I opened internet explorer.

Is it me, or this organisation a bit dodgy?

Have you tried changing to Firefox to see if IE is the main culprit?

Hi sparklingAnninGlos
I use Firefox. I've fixed the homepage takeover, but it just seemed an unethical & annoying thing to do
My main issue is that I persistently get spam emals from myheritage despite numerous attempts to opt out of them
Best regards

Next time you get one, right click on the senders name/address and you should be able to add it to the 'Block Sender' list.

good luck

Thanks for your reply. I am aware of how to block spam thanks .

I suppose my question was if any other users on these boards have found this organisation a bit dodgy?

It doesn't seem right that a genealogy company should hijack your homepage and then persistently send you spam despite opting out, and I wondered if anyone else had had the same experience?

I use their family tree bulder and find it is fine, in fact it's quite good for a freebee.
They don't take over or hijack your homepage, you just did n't read the options when you were downloading the family tree builder.
It does ask quite clearly if you want their home page and toolbar.
You can say no by unchecking the boxes and then it does n't load on your 'puter.
There are many web-sites that work in this way, for example the 2011 AvG free anti-virus will load another toolbar if you don't say no.
I don't get any emails either apart from one recently telling me of an up-dated tree builder, but certainly no spam ot junk mail.

I too use the site and I've found no problems - I only get the very odd email letting me know if I have matches. It seems like a very good site considering it's free.
