The site owners won't be posting this here, so I will.

From a reply at the Facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/genesreunited

"thanks for your post. We appreciate that due to demand some members have experienced a slow site, so >>>> have left the site free until 9pm. I'm trying to understand the problem you are encountering and wondered if you could email me further details through [email protected] Thanks"

A reply to ONE person who was disappointed -- out of the dozens of people who had posted similar messages there.

And, like, the problem everyone was encountering wasn't about as obvious as the nose on their faces ...

Personally I was very surprised that I managed to get so many records (within the 2 hours & with my own internet connection going down at first) and was even more pleased with the extended time - it ran so much faster too.

I was quite impressed with the layout too - more user friendly than I imagined.

Going from my experience I have to say Thank you to GR.

(Edit: pity they didn't leave it that little bit longer - I'd just a few more to find ;) )

I just did the math.

It's 4:11 pm my Canadian time, which is 9:11 pm UK/GR time.

So GR management posted the notice of the extended time at the Facebook page at 8:58 pm -- 2 minutes before the end of the extended time, which was over by the time I posted this.

Unbelievable.

I got a couple of search results right at the beginning of the free period.

One was a nothingness -- there *might* have been a Benjamin B birth 1755-1765 in overseas births post-1761, but there wasn't.

The other was a nonsense. A search for Reuben C born 1820-1830 produced an *exact match* of a death ................... in 1944.

I knew I didn't want to pay to access records at this site, and now I'm certain I don't, so this wasn't an entirely pointless waste of time. ;)
