Hi Everybody,
Does anyone know if GR are going to make the 1911 census available as part of the normal membership package, and if so when. Ancestry are making it available free with their normal membership package this year.

I would imagine that GR/FMP had to fork out quite a bit to get the census so early, that's probably why they charge extra at the moment to cover the costs.

Not sure but I think the 1911 on Ancestry will only be the transcribed version. I don't think you will be able to view the original census papers.

I may be wrong

I have only read so far that the 1911 is in the platinum membership. 1911 can also be accessed in the original 1911 site and in the find my past site.

Regarding the ancestry site:
http://blogs.ancestry.com/uk/2010/12/09/1911-england-wales-census-summary-books-now-online-at-ancestry-co-uk/
For those of you who may not have caught the first announcement, we reached an agreement last October with The National Archives to acquire and publish online the 1911 England and Wales Census. Because it is such a large collection we’re putting it up in stages, starting with today’s Summary Books.
The 1911 Census Summary Books are a fantastic resource which can help you cross-track your ancestors through other censuses, telephone books, military records and other records, during the early part of the 20th century.
The complete set of 1911 Census record images will launch online in early 2011, followed by the indexes, which will be made available in sections throughout the remainder 2011.

True, Ancestry has the 1911 Census summary books for their members. To get 1911 Census in GR looks like one has to pay full membership at the Platinum level. Would there be a discount if one upgrades from Gold?
Does GR Platinum membership give access to the 1911 Census summary books and the individual house hold records?.
