Hi Gill, happy new year,I personally would save my cash and use it to buy Ancestry sub, just pay the basic GR sub for the message/help boards.

I had Gold membership for six months and regretted it. There are other sites which may be more expensive than this one, but they are well worth the money. Most people recommend Ancestry or Find My Past (FMP). Personally, I prefer Ancestry. I think both sites have free trials so why not take one on both sites and see which you prefer.

Also, don't forget the free sites like freebmd, freecen, freereg and familysearch. Some areas also have online parish clerks (OPCs) -this site has details:

Hi Annina.
I do have Ancestry sub just renewed before Christmas, hubbies Christmas pressy. Have my tree on both thought it might br nice to be able to add records to both trees but it is a lot of money you are probably right though.

There are so few records here Gill, its just not worth the money.
Try a free trial Ancestry or FMP first then if you like either have a look on the 'net for a discount voucher for the one you want.

Gill,

I found the search facility on here very limited compared to Ancestry; also, the problem of not being able to look easily at the next census page if a family was split over pages and, as Eddie said, other sites have far more records.

Joan

That is what happened to me but it was a year or two ago so not sure if it the case now.
