Hi there from Germany, wish all a very Happy New Year and happy hunting in 2011. Not been doing much myself recently, but am ready to get going again soon.
Just have 2 questions though. In the past I mainly stuck to my "surname summery" when looking for relatives. But I see that the majority seem to put their search on " trying to find " ( general ) Is that the better way to do it ? Obviously read by more of those dedicated helpers ? Over two thirds of my family come from Scotland though, does Scotland's people work the same was as Genes ? Tried to get down to joining but always came to a dead end !
Would really appreciate any help says Sandra / Germany

It's far better to put any requests on the trying to find board than surname summary.

I use Scotlandspeople and is a very good site. You can view the certificate extracts and these entries give far more information than the England and Wales certificates.
